Happy Fall, AU Family!
The summer months were really exciting here at Adventures Underground, and August was no exception. In fact, we hosted one of our first events since reopening! Local author J.T. Greathouse joined us in the Caterpillar Cafe to present his new release, Hand of Sun King, an epic fantasy tale of two legacies and the choices a young man must make to navigate them.
Free Comic Book Day 2021 also came in August this year, and we were thrilled to actually get to host it. With Travis (our Comic Guy) leading the efforts, we were able to distribute free comics to over a THOUSAND people - but we couldn't have done it without our volunteers! ♥
As for September, it's shaping up to be a super cozy month. The leaves are changing and the weather is more bearable. Our monthly community fundraiser will support our local Support, Advocacy & Resource Center (SARC). We provide customers with a "Round Up" option at checkout all month long and will even accept cash donations, and (after we add a donation of our own) we'll send that total to them - no deductions, no percentages. With the change of the seasons, we're starting to prepare for the holidays! Not only are all of our buyers are scouting out new and awesome things to get in for the rest of the year, but we're also bringing in many well-loved games too, such as Catan, Dune (the board game), and Wingspan. If you're into painting miniatures, we've restocked some of your favorite Reaper minis, and we're bringing in all of your painting needs: brushes, cleaners, paints, and more. "How about something for the kids?" Not only will our family-friendly products like playsets, science toys and kits, and a growing selection of children's games keep little learners engaged, but there are plenty of book-themed accessories and housewares for more grown-up learners to look forward to: Poe-Ka-Dot coffee mugs, literary quote tote bags, and much more. September 24-26th is our Ex-Library Sidewalk Sale! These are often wonderful books, and will sometimes even have a special, extra-strong binding. If you don't mind some library stickers, these books are a great way to add to your home library!
The end of September will see Cool Desert Nights here at the Uptown. This event for classic cars, street rods, and motorcycles is a great chance to explore Richland's historic Uptown - all while checking out some really sweet rides! Be sure to explore the different stores that call the area home. When you support local shops, it supports local folks.
